At the PSA Bronze Hamburg Open in Hamburg, Germany, Indian squash player Veer Chotrani continued his impressive run by securing a straight-games victory over German eighth seed Raphael Kandra to reach the quarterfinals of the men’s singles event. Chotrani, ranked world No. 47, overcame Kandra with identical scorelines — 11-8, 11-7, 11-7 — in the second round to book his place in the last eight.
Chotrani’s progress marked the highlight of the Indian contingent’s campaign in Hamburg, but several of his compatriots were unable to replicate his success. Abhay Singh, seeded fifth, was defeated by England’s Sam Todd in four games (9-11, 11-7, 4-11, 2-11) in their second‐round encounter.
Ramit Tandon, the seventh seed from India, also exited in the second round after losing to Hungary’s Balazs Farkas by a four-game margin (10-12, 11-4, 5-11, 9-11).
In the women’s draw, seasoned campaigner Joshna Chinappa, a former world No. 10, was ousted by New Zealand’s eighth seed Joelle King in four games (11-9, 11-7, 9-11, 11-4).
