Olympic Setback Fuels Deepika Kumari’s Mental Reset Ahead of Asian Games

India’s ace archer Deepika Kumari is turning past disappointment into motivation, as she prepares for the upcoming Asian Games with a renewed focus on mental resilience.

Still carrying the weight of missed Olympic opportunities, Deepika has openly acknowledged that the real battle lies within. She revealed that internal pressure and self-doubt often overshadow external expectations, making mental conditioning a top priority in her preparation.

A four-time Olympian and former world No. 1, Deepika has consistently delivered strong performances on the global circuit, but the elusive Olympic medal continues to drive her ambition.

In response, she has shifted her training approach—placing greater emphasis on controlling thoughts, improving self-talk, and staying composed in high-pressure situations. This mental reset is aimed at ensuring she performs at her peak when it matters most, particularly in knockout stages where she has previously faltered.

With the Asian Games on the horizon and Olympic qualification pathways becoming more competitive, Deepika’s renewed mindset could prove crucial. Her journey reflects a broader evolution in elite sport, where mental strength is increasingly seen as the defining edge between success and near-misses.
