After 11 years away from the top flight, Bradford Bulls are back in Super League for the 2026 season. Liquidation, relegation and rebuilding shaped a turbulent decade, but the fallen giants now return determined to restore pride at Odsal and compete again among rugby league’s elite.
Rebuilding From Rock Bottom
The drop from powerhouse to lower-league battlers hit hard. It affected recruitment, finances and supporter belief. But steady work behind the scenes, led by chief executive Jason Hirst and a committed board, stabilised the club.
Coaches including John Kear and Mark Dunning began the revival, before Brian Noble’s return reconnected the Bulls with their winning DNA. Now head coach Kurt Haggerty takes charge, aiming to write a fresh chapter without burdening players with the weight of past glory. Bradford secured their place through the IMG grading system, replacing Salford in the 2026 competition.
Odsal Ready For Emotional Homecoming
Odsal Stadium, opened in 1934, remains iconic but imperfect. Upgrades including LED boards, a big screen and improved broadcast facilities have been installed to prepare for the Bulls’ first home match back in Super League.
Haggerty admits the return will be emotional, especially when Bradford host Catalans Dragons. While questions remain over the ageing venue and pitch conditions, supporters are ready to embrace top-tier rugby league once again.
Chasing Past Glory Again
Bradford’s last Super League title came in 2005, when Jamie Peacock lifted the trophy at Old Trafford. The decline that followed led to relegation in 2014.
Recruitment has been swift ahead of the new season. Andy Ackers, Ryan Sutton, Jayden Nikorima and Loghan Lewis headline arrivals as Bradford reshape their squad for the challenge ahead.
Hull KR’s rise from relegation to champions offers hope that revival is possible. For Bradford, patience will be key. The brand still carries weight. Now the task is to match history with performance and prove the Bulls truly belong back at the top.
