Abu Dhabi : India’s rising motorsport star Atiqa Mir has etched her name into the record books by becoming the first Indian racer to secure a top-five finish at the IAME UAE Karting Championship, delivering a landmark performance at the Yas Marina Circuit.
According to DD News On Air, the 11-year-old competed in the Junior S125 category and finished fifth overall, marking an exceptional result in what was also her debut season in the junior class. The performance stood out not just for the result, but for the competitiveness she showed against a strong international field.
Atiqa narrowly missed out on a podium, finishing just 0.4 seconds behind fourth place, underlining how close she came to an even bigger breakthrough, as reported by DD News On Air. The achievement also made her the first female driver to finish inside the top five in the championship’s history.
“This result shows that Indian drivers can compete at the highest level internationally from a very young age,” Atiqa was quoted as saying by DD News On Air, expressing satisfaction with her performance while also setting her sights on stronger finishes in the future.
The IAME UAE Karting Championship is regarded as one of the most competitive karting series in the region, often serving as a stepping stone for drivers aiming for higher levels of international motorsport.
