Renowned UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan has confidently backed Khamzat Chimaev’s potential to become a two-division UFC champion, praising the new middleweight titleholder’s elite wrestling and physical tools.
During a recent episode of his podcast, Rogan broke down Chimaev’s dominant victory over Dricus du Plessis and highlighted why he believes the unbeaten fighter can succeed beyond the middleweight division. “You’ve got to be a f Olympic-level wrestler to scrap with that guy” Rogan said, singling out the dominant grappling that sets Chimaev apart from other fighters.
Raan went on to explain that with time to properly put on weight, Chimaev’s size and elite grappling could allow him to transition effectively if he moves up to the light heavyweight division. “I think he can do it… if he takes time and puts weight on,” Rogan added on the show, reinforcing his belief in Chimaev’s two-division potential.
Meanwhile, Chimaev himself has been vocal in calling out the current light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira, expressing frustration that the Brazilian may be avoiding the fight. “I don’t think he wants that fight… he knows I’m not his level,” Chimaev said in comments highlighted in the report.
With the UFC facing growing demand for blockbuster matchups, Chimaev’s ambitions now include not only defending his middleweight crown but also chasing glory in another weight class — a path Rogan clearly believes he has the toolsto follow.
