New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd has returned to hospital as he continues to recover from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The 29-year-old was first taken to hospital after being shot in Manhattan during the early hours of 16 November.
Boyd said in a social media post that he had been released but needed to go back because of “health issues”, adding that he appreciated the messages and prayers from supporters.
Police Search for Suspect Continues
Authorities are still looking for the gunman and have reportedly identified a person of interest. Boyd had earlier been listed in a critical but stable condition and later updated fans that he was “starting to breathe on my own”.
Jets coach Aaron Glenn said the team had been informed that Boyd experienced a setback and needed further treatment.
Boyd joined the Jets this year after spells with the Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings. He has been on injured reserve since August due to a shoulder injury suffered in training.
