R360, the proposed global rugby competition aimed at attracting the sport’s biggest names, has postponed its launch to 2028, raising fresh uncertainty about the long-term future of the project.
Tindall Explains Strategic Delay
Board member and former England centre Mike Tindall said the decision was made to avoid rushing the rollout. He stressed the timeline was too tight, adding that a compressed launch would fail to meet R360’s standards or deliver the commercial impact the sport needs.
Major Nations Maintain Ban on Players
Eight leading Test nations, along with the British and Irish Lions, have blocked any R360 players from combining the series with international rugby. The stance adds further pressure on the concept, which has yet to secure full global alignment.
