US: In a nail-biting Week 12, the NFL delivered two unforgettable comebacks and introduced a new face under centre.
First, the Cowboys erased a 21-0 hole to shock the Philadelphia Eagles 24-21. Trailing by three touchdowns, the Cowboys regrouped behind Dak Prescott, who threw for 354 yards and two touchdowns. A key 24-yard strike to George Pickens set up kicker Brandon Aubrey’s 42-yard game-winner as time expired. “We just kept fighting,” Prescott remarked, capturing the spirit of the comeback. The Eagles, meanwhile, could not protect their three-touchdown lead, raising questions about their consistency.
Meanwhile, the Chiefs rebounded in dramatic fashion to stave off the Indianapolis Colts 23-20 in overtime. The Chiefs, down by 11 in the fourth quarter, rallied behind Patrick Mahomes’s 352-yard passing day. “Big for us. We just gotta keep pushing,” Mahomes said after the game. The defence rose to the occasion late, forcing four straight three-and-outs, and kicker Harrison Butker sealed the win with his fifth field goal of the game. The win keeps Kansas City alive in the playoff hunt and proves they can close tight games when needed.
Finally, rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders made his first NFL start for the Cleveland Browns and led them to a road victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. He threw for 209 yards and a touchdown in his debut, showing poise beyond his years. The Browns’ defence, led by Myles Garrett, provided ample support, and the franchise looks to be entering a new era.
Week 12 will be remembered for the grit of the Cowboys, the resilience of the Chiefs, and the beginning of Sanders’ journey — all in one action-packed Sunday.
