Bhubaneswar: The Women’s Premier League is gearing up for one of its biggest events yet as the 2026 mega auction is set to take place on 27 November 2025 in New Delhi. The stage is set, the numbers are tight, and the star-power is unmistakable.

This year’s auction pool includes a total of 277 registered players, but with only 73 slots available across the five teams, competition is expected to be intense. Out of those openings, just 23 are allocated for overseas players, raising the stakes for international cricketers even further.

The highlight of the auction will be the marquee set, which features eight headline names expected to spark early bidding battles. This list includes Indian stars Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh, alongside overseas talents like Laura Wolvaardt, Sophie Ecclestone, Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, Amelia Kerr, and Sophie Devine.

Base prices reflect their stature. Deepti Sharma, Sophie Ecclestone and Alyssa Healy enter the auction with a top-tier base price of ₹50 lakh, while Renuka Singh sits at ₹40 lakh. Laura Wolvaardt, another high-impact name, has been placed at ₹30 lakh.

Beyond individual talent, franchise strategy will play a defining role. Teams will look to balance local and international strength while managing budgets, retention cards and competition for talent. One franchise reportedly heads into the auction with ₹14.5 crore remaining, giving them a potential edge in early marquee bidding.

The auction is expected to not only decide squad strength but also shape the momentum and fan expectations heading into the new season. With marquee players opening the bidding, a fierce and fast-paced contest is anticipated.

WPL 2026’s mega auction is more than a roster exercise — it marks the beginning of a new chapter, full of rivalry, renewed strategies, and the promise of high-quality women’s cricket.
