South Africa produced a dominant all-round performance to outclass Pakistan by eight wickets in the second ODI at the Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, leveling the three-match series 1–1.
After being put in to bat, Pakistan posted a modest 269 for 9 in their 50 overs. Middle-order contributions from Salman Agha (69) and Mohammad Nawaz (59) helped steady the innings after early setbacks. However, South Africa’s bowlers maintained relentless pressure throughout.
Left-arm pacer Nandre Burger was the standout performer with a superb spell of 4 for 46, while Nqaba Peter impressed with his spin and control, claiming 3 for 55. Their combined effort dismantled Pakistan’s batting rhythm, leaving the hosts well short of a commanding total.
In response, South Africa made light work of the chase. Quinton de Kock was at his elegant best, smashing an unbeaten 123 off 114 balls with 12 fours and 3 sixes. His opening partner Tony de Zorzi (76) provided strong support as the pair added 153 runs for the first wicket. The Proteas reached the target comfortably in just 40.1 overs, finishing at 270 for 2.
Pakistan’s bowlers struggled to make inroads, with Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Amir taking one wicket each but unable to stem the flow of runs.
What’s Next
The win brings the series alive at 1–1, setting up an exciting decider in Rawalpindi. South Africa will enter the final match high on confidence, while Pakistan will look to fix their fielding lapses and middle-order consistency.
