England’s aggressive T20I unit under Harry Brook continued their blistering run of form, smashing their second-highest total against New Zealand in the second T20I at Christchurch. The visitors produced a ruthless display as openers Phil Salt and captain Harry Brook dismantled the Kiwi bowling attack to set up a massive win.
Salt struck a stunning 85, while Brook hammered 78 off just 41 balls, helping England post a mammoth 236/4 — their second-highest T20I score against the Black Caps. The only higher total came in Napier back in 2019, when England piled up 241/3.
Historic Feat At Hagley Oval
This total is now the highest ever recorded at Hagley Oval, surpassing New Zealand’s 208/5 against Bangladesh in 2022. The English batters made the ground look small, combining clean hitting with fearless intent to dominate from the start.
England’s Growing List Of Records
England’s 236/4 also stands as their fifth-highest total in all T20 internationals. Their highest remains the jaw-dropping 304/2 against South Africa. For New Zealand, it was another tough night with the ball as Australia’s 245/5 in 2018 and England’s 241/3 now stand as the only two bigger totals ever conceded by the Kiwis.
With this win, England not only take control of the series but also send a strong message ahead of next year’s T20 World Cup.
