Bhubaneswar: In a heart-stirring display of resilience and skill, Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen secured his place in the semi-finals of the Denmark Open with a thrilling three-set victory over Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn. The match, held in Odense, showcased Axelsen’s return to top form after a challenging six-month hiatus due to back surgery.

The encounter began with Axelsen trailing 0–4, but he gradually found his rhythm. However, Vitidsarn seized control, winning ten consecutive points to clinch the first set 21–13. Unfazed, Axelsen dominated the second set, leading 11–4 at the break and eventually leveling the match with a 21–12 win.

The decider was a testament to both players’ endurance and determination. Vitidsarn’s agile play kept Axelsen on his toes, but the Danish star’s experience and composure prevailed. With the crowd rallying behind him, Axelsen edged out Vitidsarn 21–18 in a gripping final set.

Overcome with emotion, Axelsen shed tears of joy and relief, marking a poignant moment in his comeback journey. His performance not only secured his semi-final spot but also reaffirmed his status among the world’s elite players.

As Axelsen continues his pursuit of excellence, fans and fellow athletes alike are inspired by his unwavering spirit and dedication to the sport.
