Bhubaneswar: Rain has interrupted the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 clash between New Zealand and Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo, delaying the start of the White Ferns’ innings.
Sri Lanka had put up a strong challenge, posting a competitive 258/6 in their allotted 50 overs. The innings was highlighted by Nilakshika Silva’s blistering 50 off just 26 deliveries, which gave the Sri Lankan side a solid platform.
New Zealand’s Sophie Devine led the bowling efforts, claiming 3 wickets for 54 runs, keeping the match closely contested. However, the weather has now brought the game to a temporary halt, with New Zealand yet to begin their chase of 259 runs.
Fans can follow live updates and streaming of the match on the official ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup website or the JioHotstar platform, as both teams wait for the skies to clear to resume the action.
The match promises to be an exciting contest once play restarts, with both sides having key players who could turn the game in their favour.
