Bhubaneswar: Coco Gauff has etched her name in tennis history by becoming the first woma since Serena Williams to win nine consecutive hard-court titles. The 19-year-old American showcased her remarkable form at the Wuhan Open, defeating fellow American Jessica Pegula in a thrilling final.
The match was a rollercoaster of momentum, with Gauff taking the first set 6–4. Pegula fought back in the second, winning 6–3, but Gauff regained control in the decider, closing out the match 6–2 to claim the trophy.
“This means so much to me,” Gauff said after the victory. “Winning on hard courts has always been my goal, and to do it nine times in a row is incredible.”
