Bhubaneswar: After a challenging 2025 season that saw injuries disrupt his rhythm, India’s javelin superstar Neeraj Chopra has taken a well-deserved break—this time in the serene landscapes of Switzerland. The Olympic champion is retreating to Zurich and the picturesque town of Murren to recharge both physically and mentally ahead of the 2026 athletics season.
Chopra’s connection with Switzerland runs deep. He has previously trained in Magglingen before his historic World Championship triumph in 2023 and has fond memories of winning the Diamond League Trophy in Zurich. The calm of the Swiss Alps, scenic train journeys from Interlaken to Lausanne, and the tranquil environment of Murren provide him the perfect backdrop to reflect, recover, and strategize for the upcoming season.
The break comes after a testing year for the 26-year-old, who battled a back injury that hampered his performance at the World Championships. Chopra is determined to return stronger, using this period not just for physical recuperation but also to sharpen his focus and mental resilience.
Switzerland has previously celebrated Chopra’s achievements too. In 2022, he was honored by Switzerland Tourism at Jungfraujoch—the famed “Top of Europe”—alongside sporting legends like Roger Federer and Rory McIlroy, underlining the country’s significance in his career journey.
As Chopra embraces the Alpine retreat, fans can expect him to emerge rejuvenated and more determined to reclaim his dominant form in javelin, aiming for a spectacular comeback in 2026.
