Ranchi– Records fell and rivalries intensified on Day 2 of the National Open Athletics Championships 2025 at Birsa Munda Stadium, where athletes braved heavy showers to deliver electrifying performances.
Men’s 100m – Manikanta Makes History
Manikanta Hoblidhar (23) stormed to gold in 10.19 seconds, smashing his own meet record from 2023.
He is now only the second Indian sprinter under 10.20s, alongside national record-holder Animesh Kujur (10.18s, Greece 2025).
Podium finishers:
Pranav Gurav – 10.31s (silver)
Harsh Raut – 10.38s (bronze)
Former record-holder Amlan Borgohain clocked 10.43s to finish fifth.
Women’s 100m – Sneha Strikes Gold
Sneha SS took the title in 11.62s, winning by a slim margin.
Sudeshna Shivankar (11.64s) and Abinaya Rajarajan (11.67s) followed closely in one of the most competitive races of the day.
Men’s 400m – Rajesh Ramesh in Command
Paris 2024 Olympian and relay mainstay Rajesh Ramesh won the men’s one-lap final in 45.75s.
This was his third sub-46s performance of the season, underlining his consistency.
Women’s 400m – Pathak Stays Strong
Neeru Pathak delivered a composed race to win in 52.85s.
Olimba Steffi (53.75s) and Priya Mohan (54.04s) completed the podium.
