Ridhima Dilawari and Hitaashee Bakshi carried Indian hopes at the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open, finishing tied 23rd after making the cut with identical scores of 71-69 for a two-under 140 at the Par-71 Golfpark Holzhäusern.
Tough Conditions, Steady Golf
Playing in damp conditions, both golfers showed composure to stay under par and secure their spots for the weekend rounds. Dilawari, competing on an invite, and Bakshi stood out as the only two Indians to advance, while several of their compatriots fell short.
Others Miss Out
Among the other Indians in the field, Vani Kapoor (74-70), Sneha Singh (70-75), last year’s runner-up Tvesa Malik (72-74) and Pranavi Urs (74-76) could not progress beyond the second round.
Hewson in Control
England’s Alice Hewson, a two-time Ladies European Tour winner, set the pace with a strong nine-under total after 36 holes. Despite opening with bogeys, she recovered brilliantly to card a 67 in the second round. Hewson holds a two-shot lead, with Lauren Walsh and Whitney Kemp close behind.
A total of 67 players advanced at one-over par or better, setting up an exciting weekend battle.
