Hangzhou, China – September 6, 2025: In a nail-biting clash at the Gongshu Canal Sports Park Hockey Field, the Indian women’s hockey team once again displayed their fighting spirit, salvaging a dramatic 2-2 draw against defending champions Japan in their second pool B match of the Women’s Asia Cup 2025.
Japan took an early lead through Hiroka Murayama’s strike in the 10th minute, setting the stage for a tough encounter. India responded with determination as Rutaja Dadaso Pisal netted an equaliser in the 30th minute, bringing parity to the match at halftime.
The second half saw high-intensity hockey with Japan regaining the lead in the 58th minute via Chiko Fujibayashi. But India, undeterred by the pressure and missing key veterans like goalkeeper Savita Punia and drag-flick specialist Deepika due to injuries, kept their nerves steady.
