Rajgir : Rajgir Sports Academy has officially been granted affiliation with the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF), as announced by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The announcement was made by FIH President Dr. Tayyab Ikram, marking a significant milestone in the academy’s development.
This affiliation opens new avenues for international collaboration, development programs, and elevated status within Asian hockey circuits.
The announcement was made during the forum titled “Grassroots to Glory – All About Hockey”, organized jointly by the Sports Department and the Bihar State Sports Authority (BSSA). Discussions focused on women’s hockey, the integration of sports science and technology, and the importance of nurturing local coaching talent.
Director General & CEO of BSSA, Ravindran Shankar, highlighted Bihar’s grassroots initiative, Mashal, touted as the world’s largest talent search. He also reaffirmed the state’s commitment to supporting athletes through employment opportunities, financial incentives, and the Prerna Yojana, which offers up to ₹300,000 to fund kits, nutrition, and training.
The seminar took place on a rest day during the Hero Asia Cup 2025, which is being held at the Rajgir Sports Complex from August 29 to September 7, marking the first time this prestigious international tournament is hosted in Bihar.
