Neeraj Chopra’s Grit Shines as Weber Dominates Diamond League Final 2025

Bhubaneswar : n a thrilling showdown at the Diamond League Final 2025 in Zurich, Neeraj Chopra once again proved why he remains one of the world’s finest javelin throwers. Though the German sensation Julian Weber took the crown with a world-leading throw of 91.51 meters, Neeraj’s late flourish of 85.01 meters secured a hard-fought second place, showcasing his resilience despite a challenging day.

From the start, Weber set an imposing tone with massive throws over 91 meters, dominating the competition. Neeraj struggled with his rhythm initially, registering fouls and some modest attempts. However, in a display of champion spirit, he nailed his final throw to climb just ahead of former World Champion Keshorn Walcott. Speaking after the event, Neeraj said, “I feel I am really fast in run-up, but I don’t think I am using the speed right now. This is a hard day, but I will keep working to get better.” His reflection highlights the ongoing journey of perfecting his technique under the guidance of coach Jan Zelezny.

This final marked Neeraj’s first Diamond League finish outside the top two since 2021, yet his competitive spirit remains unshaken. The field featured top athletes like Anderson Peters, Julius Yego, and Keshorn Walcott, making the contest fiercely competitive.

Key Points:

Julian Weber’s remarkable 91.51m throw won him the Diamond League title and the world-leading mark of 2025.

Neeraj Chopra’s clutch final round throw of 85.01m earned him second place despite earlier fouls.

Keshorn Walcott finished a close third with 84.95m.

Neeraj admitted to technical struggles but remains committed to improvement.

The competition took place at Zurich’s Letzigrund Stadium — the site of Neeraj’s 2022 Diamond League win.

With the World Championships looming, Neeraj Chopra’s journey is far from over. His blend of talent, hard work, and mental toughness promises more thrilling moments for athletics fans worldwide.

This event reinforced Neeraj’s status as India’s golden boy in javelin, competing against the world’s best with lasting resolve and passion.
