Who Shined Brightest at the Wanda Diamond League Final in Zurich?

Switzerland : The 2025 Wanda Diamond League Final in Zurich delivered a spectacular showcase of athleticism, crowning six champions on the first day alone under the bright Swiss sky at Sechseläutenplatz. Australian high jumper Nicola Olyslagers stole the spotlight with a breathtaking performance, clearing 2.04 meters to set a new Oceania record and claim her first Diamond League title. Her victory came after an intense duel with Ukraine’s Yaroslava Mahuchikh, the reigning titleholder, who fell short at the 2.06m mark.

Pole vault fans were treated to stunning displays with the USA’s Katie Moon capturing her second Diamond League title by clearing 4.82m, while Sweden’s Mondo Duplantis clinched his fifth successive title by clearing 6.00m in a nail-biting battle with Greek rival Emmanouil Karalis. The competition was fierce, culminating in both athletes collapsing in mutual respect after the contest.

Other highlights of the day included Joe Kovacs securing his fourth Diamond Trophy in the shot put with a 22.46m throw and Swiss star Simon Ehammer thrilling the home crowd by winning the men’s long jump with an impressive 8.32m leap.

Katie Moon wins the women’s pole vault with a 4.82m clearance.

Mondo Duplantis claims his fifth consecutive men’s pole vault Diamond League title at 6.00m.

Simon Ehammer wins men’s long jump with 8.32m, giving the Swiss fans a home victory.

The competition continues on August 28 at Zurich’s Letzigrund Stadium with more champions to be crowned.

The Wanda Diamond League Final in Zurich continues to be a thrilling culmination of the season, with top athletes from around the world battling for supremacy and prestige in one of athletics’ most celebrated events. The event’s mix of city-center spectacle and stadium grandeur ensures an electric atmosphere for competitors and fans alike.
