Rajgir Set to Host Thrilling Hero Asia Cup Hockey Tournament from August 29

Bihar : Rajgir, Bihar, is gearing up to host the prestigious 12th edition of the Hero Asia Cup Hockey tournament, scheduled from August 29 to September 7, 2025. The event will take place at the newly developed Bihar Sports University Hockey Stadium, marking a significant milestone for Bihar as a rising sports hub in India.

The tournament features eight top Asian hockey teams divided into two competitive pools. Pool A includes India, Japan, China, and Kazakhstan, while Pool B consists of Malaysia, Korea, Bangladesh, and Chinese Taipei. Notably, Bangladesh and Kazakhstan have replaced Pakistan and Oman, respectively, who withdrew due to security and financial concerns.

The opening day promises exciting encounters, with reigning champions Korea defending their title against Chinese Taipei, and host nation India facing off against China in front of an enthusiastic home crowd. The pool stage will be followed by the Super4s, where the best teams will battle intensely to reach the final, which is set for September 7.

The stakes are high, as the winner of the Hero Asia Cup will secure a coveted direct qualification to the 2026 FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup, scheduled to be held in Belgium and the Netherlands. This tournament thus combines continental glory with the chance to compete on hockey’s biggest global stage.

Rajgir’s role as the host city highlights Bihar’s growing sporting infrastructure and ambition. The state government, Hockey India, and the Asian Hockey Federation have all expressed strong commitment to executing a world-class event. Officials believe this tournament will inspire new generations of hockey players and showcase Asia’s elite talent.

With thrilling matches, passionate supporters, and a qualification prize on the line, the Hero Asia Cup Rajgir 2025 promises to be a memorable chapter in Asian hockey, showcasing skill, speed, and fierce competition over ten days of high-stakes action.

Fans can look forward to a festival of hockey excellence starting August 29, right here in Rajgir, Bihar.
