Vientiane, Laos – Indian table tennis star G. Sathiyan continued his impressive run of form, securing the men’s singles title at the WTT Feeder Vientiane on Friday. In a dominant final performance, Sathiyan, seeded second in the tournament, defeated top seed Ryoichi Yoshiyama of Japan in straight games.
A Comprehensive Victory
Sathiyan showcased his superior skill and control throughout the final, triumphing over World No. 95 Yoshiyama with a comfortable 11-4, 11-6, 12-10 victory. The win marks another significant achievement for the Indian paddler in what has been a period of strong results.
Building on Recent Success
This latest title adds to Sathiyan’s growing list of accolades. Just last month, he clinched the men’s doubles title at WTT Contender Lagos alongside his partner Akash Pal. Interestingly, Sathiyan faced Pal on his path to the Vientiane final, overcoming him in an intense five-game quarterfinal encounter.
This victory is also not Sathiyan’s first in a WTT Feeder event. He holds the distinction of being the first Indian to ever win a Feeder series singles title, achieving that feat at the WTT Feeder Beirut in March 2024, where he defeated compatriot Manav Thakkar in an all-Indian final. His consistent performances in these events highlight his ambition to climb higher in the world rankings.
