Gulveer Singh Shatters Own 3000m National Record in Budapest

Budapest, Hungary – India’s prominent middle and long-distance runner, Gulveer Singh, continued his impressive form on Tuesday, shattering his own National Record in the men’s 3000m at the Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix in Budapest.

New National Best and Race Performance

Singh, 27, clocked a new personal best and National Record time of 7:34.49, finishing fifth in a competitive race. Kenya’s Mathew Kipsang won the event with a time of 7:33.23.

This new record surpasses Gulveer’s previous best of 7:38.26, which he set earlier this year at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational in February 2025.

A Dominant Force in Indian Long-Distance Running

A dominant force in Indian long-distance running, Gulveer Singh also holds the National Records in both the 5000m and 10,000m events. He recently showcased his continental prowess by clinching gold medals in both these distances at the Asian Athletics Championships.

Looking ahead, Gulveer has already qualified for the upcoming World Championships in Tokyo in the 5000m event. He secured his spot by bettering the demanding entry standard of 13:01.00, having clocked an impressive 12:59.77 at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center earlier in February.
