Rishabh Pant’s Brave Half-Century Shines Despite Fractured Toe in Manchester Test

Bhubaneswar : Rishabh Pant demonstrated immense courage and determination by scoring a gritty 54 runs off 75 balls during the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford in July 2025. Pant was forced to retire hurt on the first day after fracturing his right toe while attempting a reverse sweep off Chris Woakes. Despite the injury causing swelling and severe pain, he made a surprise return on the second day to continue his innings, showing great resilience as India posted a total of 358 in their first innings.

Pant’s half-century on a painful injury highlights his commitment and importance to the Indian side, even though he was ruled out of wicket-keeping duties for the rest of the match. Dhruv Jurel took over as wicketkeeper, allowing Pant to concentrate on batting. His brave innings, supported by a standing ovation from the crowd, was a significant morale booster for India as they fought to remain competitive in the series.

This performance marks Pant’s fifth fifty-plus score in the ongoing series, underscoring his pivotal role despite physical setbacks.
