Hulk Hogan, Wrestling Icon And Pop Culture Giant, Dies At 71

Bhubaneswar : Terry Bollea—better known as Hulk Hogan—died at age 71 following cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida. He was pronounced dead at the hospital after emergency services responded around 10 AM local time.

WWE founder Vince McMahon hailed Hogan as the “greatest WWE Superstar of all time” and credited him with turning wrestling into a global spectacle.

Career Milestones And Record‑Setting Achievements

Hogan rose to stardom by body-slamming Andre the Giant in front of 93,000 fans at WrestleMania III in 1987—widely regarded as one of the most iconic moments in sports entertainment history.

A six-time WWF Champion and multiple-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Hogan headlined the first nine WrestleManias and wrestled professionally for over three decades.

His final WWE match took place at SummerSlam 2006, where he defeated Randy Orton.

Cultural Icon Beyond The Ring

Hogan became a household name in the 1980s with his red-and-yellow persona, “Real American” theme music, and catchphrases like “Whatcha gonna do, brother?”

He starred in numerous films and TV shows, including Rocky III, Thunder in Paradise, and Suburban Commando, expanding wrestling’s reach into Hollywood.

He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice—once in 2005, and again in 2018 after a temporary removal due to controversy.

Tributes Pour In From Wrestling And Beyond

WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H called Hogan “the blueprint for every WWE Superstar that followed.”

John Cena, Ric Flair, Charlotte Flair, Sylvester Stallone, and President Donald Trump all expressed admiration and grief, calling Hogan a legend with unmatched charisma and influence.

Stallone credited Hogan with helping make Rocky III a classic: “He brought power and authenticity to the ring and screen.”
