Wimbledon 2025 Quarter-Finals Preview

Wimbledon : The Stage Is Set

Wimbledon 2025 reaches a fever pitch as the men’s singles quarter-finals take center stage. Today, all eyes are on two blockbuster matchups: World No. 1 Jannik Sinner faces the powerful American Ben Shelton, while seven-time champion Novak Djokovic continues his pursuit of history against Italy’s Flavio Cobolli.

Court 1:

Jannik Sinner (Italy, Seed 1) vs Ben Shelton (USA, Seed 10)

Centre Court (7:10 pm IST):

Flavio Cobolli (Italy, Seed 22) vs Novak Djokovic (Serbia, Seed 6)

Jannik Sinner vs. Ben Shelton

Sinner’s Resilience Tested: Jannik Sinner’s path to the quarters has been anything but smooth. After a dominant start to the tournament, he survived a major scare in the fourth round, trailing Grigor Dimitrov by two sets before the Bulgarian retired due to injury. Sinner picked up an elbow injury early in that match, raising concerns about his fitness heading into this crucial clash.

Shelton’s Big Opportunity: Ben Shelton, the 10th seed, arrives in top form after dispatching Lorenzo Sonego in four sets. Known for his explosive serve and fearless approach, Shelton is poised to test Sinner’s physical limits, especially if the Italian’s elbow remains an issue.

Head-to-Head: Sinner leads their rivalry 5-1, including a win on grass, but Shelton’s recent surge and Sinner’s injury could make this a much closer contest than their records suggest.

Prediction: Sinner is still the favorite, with predictive models giving him a 70% chance of victory, but Shelton’s aggressive style and Sinner’s uncertain health could tilt the balance.

Novak Djokovic vs. Flavio Cobolli

Djokovic’s Quest for History: Novak Djokovic, at 38, is chasing his eighth Wimbledon title and a record-breaking 25th Grand Slam singles crown. He battled past Alex de Minaur in the previous round, overcoming a slow start and the pressure of Roger Federer watching from the Royal Box.

Cobolli’s Breakthrough: Flavio Cobolli, seeded 22nd, is enjoying a dream run at SW19, reaching his first Grand Slam quarter-final. While Djokovic is the overwhelming favorite, Cobolli’s fearless tennis and underdog status make this a match worth watching.

What to Watch: Djokovic’s experience and all-court game make him the clear frontrunner, but the Italian will look to disrupt with his youthful energy and nothing-to-lose attitude.
