Bengaluru, India – The Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru is set to host a landmark event for Indian athletics today, Saturday, July 5, as it stages the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic 2025. This highly anticipated competition, named after the Olympic and World Javelin champion Neeraj Chopra, marks India’s first-ever international javelin-only meet.

The event is a significant collaborative effort involving Neeraj Chopra himself, JSW Sports, the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), and World Athletics (WA). It holds the prestigious World Athletics Gold Level status, making it the highest-tier international athletics meet ever held on Indian soil.

As the star attraction, Neeraj Chopra, the reigning Olympic and World champion, will lead an elite field of global javelin throwers. Among the notable international competitors are Germany’s Thomas Röhler, the 2016 Olympic gold medalist, and Kenya’s Julius Yego, the 2015 World Champion and Rio 2016 Olympic silver medalist. This impressive lineup guarantees a high-caliber competition for fans.

The Neeraj Chopra Classic aims to not only showcase world-class talent but also to significantly elevate India’s standing in global athletics, providing a platform for both international and domestic javelin throwers.
