Ayush Shetty recently secured his first BWF World Tour title, defeating Brian Yang of Canada 21-18, 21-13 in the US Open final. This win marks the 20-year-old’s first title this season and the first men’s singles title for India away from home since Lakshya Sen’s Canada Open victory in 2023. Shetty, currently ranked 34th in the world, had an impressive run, including a semifinal win over World No. 6 Chou Tien Chen, who had previously beaten him.
In the women’s final, 16-year-old Tanvi Sharma, despite a strong performance throughout the tournament, lost to top seed Beiwen Zhang 21-11, 16-21, 21-10. Nevertheless, Sharma, who is ranked 66th globally, made history as the youngest Indian to reach a BWF World Tour final. Her journey included significant victories over second seed Nguyen Thuy Linh and former Junior World Champion Pitchamon Opatniputh.
