NBA Finals 2025: Pacers Eye Commanding Lead in Game 4, Thunder Look to Regroup

Indianapolis, June 13 — The Indiana Pacers are just two wins away from history. As they prepare to host the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 4 of the 2025 NBA Finals tonight, momentum, energy, and a raucous home crowd all seem to be tipping the balance in Indiana’s favor.

Having claimed a hard-fought Game 3 victory, the Pacers now lead the series 2–1. Another win tonight would put them on the brink of securing their first NBA championship in franchise history — a feat that seemed distant just a few seasons ago.

The Pacers’ Moment

Indiana has emerged as the surprise powerhouse of the postseason, playing with pace, unselfishness, and a chip on their shoulder. Tyrese Haliburton, the team’s floor general, has not only been efficient but fearless — hitting clutch shots and orchestrating the offense like a seasoned playoff veteran.

But it’s not just Haliburton. Forward Pascal Siakam has provided vital scoring and defensive versatility, while players like Myles Turner, Andrew Nembhard, and T.J. McConnell have stepped up in key moments. Perhaps most crucially, the Pacers’ bench has outperformed expectations, bringing both energy and points late in games.

Thunder in Trouble?

The Thunder, meanwhile, are facing their first real crisis of the postseason. After a stellar start to the Finals, including a Game 1 blowout, Oklahoma City looked like they might run away with the series. But Game 3 exposed their inconsistencies — particularly on defense and in second-unit play.

Still, the Thunder have the league MVP in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. His blend of creativity, poise, and scoring ability gives OKC a fighting chance in any game. But he’ll need more help from teammates like Jalen Williams and rookie big man Chet Holmgren if the Thunder hope to even the series tonight.

Game 4: The Stakes

Game 4 is often called the “swing game” — and for good reason. A 3–1 lead has historically proven almost insurmountable in the Finals. For the Pacers, winning tonight means setting themselves up for a potential championship-clinching game in Oklahoma City. For the Thunder, a victory would restore momentum and reclaim home-court advantage.

The X-factors? Rebounding, turnovers, and late-game execution. Indiana’s ability to maintain composure under pressure — something they’ve done consistently throughout these playoffs — could once again be the difference.

Indianapolis Believes

The excitement in the city is palpable. From murals downtown to gold-and-blue lighting displays across buildings, Indianapolis is rallying behind its team like never before. Gainbridge Fieldhouse is expected to be deafening, with fans ready to push their team closer to glory.

What’s Next

Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET. All eyes will be on how the Thunder respond — and whether the Pacers can ride the wave of home energy toward a 3–1 lead.

Regardless of the outcome, one thing is clear: Game 4 is set to be the defining chapter of what’s already been a thrilling NBA Finals.
