24th Six Nations Championship to begin from February 4

The 24th Six Nations Championship, an annual rugby union competition between the national sides of England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales, will take place in 2023 and will be known as the Guinness Six Nations due to sponsorship considerations. It will occupy the centre stage, beginning on February 4. It will continue till March 18. Additionally, it will be the competition’s 129th edition (including all its previous incarnations as the Home Nations Championship and Five Nations Championship). The Grand Slam was won by France in 2022, and they will be the defending champions entering the competition.

FIS Alpine World Ski Championships to commence from February 6

The 47th FIS Alpine World Ski Championships will be held in the two nearby French Alps resort towns of Courchevel and Méribel from February 6 to February 19, 2023. The choice of the venue was made in May 2018 during the 51st FIS Congress in Costa Navarino, Greece, where Courchevel-Méribel defeated Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria, by a vote of 9 to 6. The 1992 Winter Olympic Games were partially held in the same two locales. Ski jumping and the Nordic combination were performed at Courchevel, while the women’s alpine skiing competition was held in Méribel.

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup to be held from February 10

It is planned that the eighth iteration of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will take place in 2023. It will take place in South Africa from February 10 to February 26 of 2023. Australia is the reigning world champion.Due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the International Cricket Council (ICC) stated in November 2020 that the event has been shifted from its intended date at the end of 2022 to February 2023. On February 12, India will face off against Pakistan, its archrival.

Super Bowl LVII to start from February 12

The National Football League (NFL) will hold Super Bowl LVII as its future American football championship game for the 2022 NFL season. The contest is slated to take place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on February 12, 2023. The Phoenix metropolitan region has hosted four Super Bowls; the most recent was Super Bowl XLIX in 2015, which was again held at State Farm Stadium (then called University of Phoenix Stadium). Fox will broadcast the match on national television.

FIS Nordic World Ski Championships to begin from February 21

The 43rd FIS Nordic World Ski Championships will take place in Planica, Slovenia, from February 21 through March 5, 2023. The nation will be hosting the World Championships for the first time. The Nordic World Championships will be held in Slovenia for the first time. The Planica Nordic Centre, which is situated in the Planica monument valley, will serve as the venue for all competitions.

Gavaskar trophy to take centre stage from February 9

The historic Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia will take place on February 9th when the two teams take the field in the 1st test in Nagpur. Delhi (Arun Jaitley Stadium), Dharamsala (HPCA Stadium) and Ahmedabad (Narendra Modi Stadium) will host the other tests of the series. This is an important series from India’s point of view as a 3-0 series win will grant them a spot in the WTC Final.

The Khelo India Youth Games to start from January 31

From January 31 to February 11, the Khelo India Youth Games will be held. Multiple sports will be featured at the Madhya Pradesh event. Through organised sporting tournaments, systematic talent discovery, and infrastructure development, it will seek to enhance India’s grassroots sports culture. The initiative was started by the Indian government in 2017–18, during the administrations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sports Ministers Vijay Goel, and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.

FIFA Club World Cup to begin on February 1

The FIFA Club World Cup, an international club football competition featuring the champions of the six continental confederations and the league champions of the hosting country, will take place for the 19th time in 2022. Morocco will host the competition from February 1–February 11, 2023.

The reigning champions, Chelsea, are unable to defend their championship because they were disqualified after losing in the 2021–22 UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.

Youth football

U-20 Africa Cup of Nations to start from February 19

The Confederation of African Football will host the 17th edition of the biennial international youth football competition in Africa in 2023, officially known as the 2023 TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (or the 24th if tournaments without hosts are included). It will take place in Egypt from February 19 through March 11, 2023. [1]

The competition will serve as both the African qualifying tournament and the Indonesia-hosted FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2023. The top four groups will earn World Cup qualification.

Ghana was the reigning champion after winning their fourth championship in 2021, but they will not defend their title because they were unable to make the tournament.

Formula E

Cape Town ePrix to start from February 25

On February 25, 2023, the South African city of Cape Town will host the Cape Town ePrix. The event will mark the debut of Formula E in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The race was originally scheduled for 2022, but it was postponed for unspecified reasons that were probably connected to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although it wasn’t initially on the 2023 calendar, it was added after the Seoul ePrix was cancelled.

A street circuit about 2.74 kilometres (1.70 miles) long will be set up in Cape Town’s Waterfront neighbourhood, close to Signal Hill. [1] It is said that the track is “one of the fastest on the schedule”.The course includes a total of 12 corners.
