India ends campaign with 25 gold medals

Dominant India ended its campaign with 25 gold medals, including two on the final day, at the 15th Asian Air Gun Championships in Daegu, South Korea. Manu Bhaker and Samrat Rana won the junior event in the 10m air pistol mixed team, while Rhythm Sangwan and Vijayveer Sidhu won gold in the corresponding senior event. Showing absolute dominance, India won 25 of the 28 events over the eight-day schedule.

Table tennis legend Achanta Sharath Kamal received India’s highest sporting award, Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna, by President Draupadi Murum during the glamorous National Sports Awards ceremony held in Rashtrapati Bhavan on November 30^th.

Asian Continental Chess C’ship: India’s R Praggnanandhaa, PV Nandidhaa win titles

At the Asian Continental Chess Championships in New Delhi, top-seeded Indian grandmaster R. Pragnananda and compatriot P.V. Nandida won titles in the open and women’s sections respectively.  Pragnananda emerged as the clear winner with seven points as he drew in the ninth and final round of a 63-move game against compatriot B Adhiban. On the women’s side, Nandhidhaa tied Divya Deshmukh in the ninth round to finish with 7.5 points. The 26-year-old player from Tamil Nadu has gone 9 rounds undefeated with 6 wins.

Manipur tops medal tally at Northeast Olympic Games

The 2nd Northeast Olympic Games ended on November 16, 2022 in Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. The week-long sporting event saw nearly 3,000 participants from all northeastern states compete in 18 disciplines, including football, shooting, basketball and more, at 12 venues spread across Shillong. Manipur emerged as the overall team winners with a total of 240 medals, including 88 gold, 75 silver and 77 bronze medals.

Djokovic claims Nitto ATP Finals Crown

Novak Djokovic defeated Casper Ruud 7-5, 6-3 in the title match in Turin on Sunday to claim a record sixth title and a historic $4.7 million prize at the Nitto ATP Finals. It was Djokovic’s quality second leg that proved the difference in this week’s round-robin winners’ showdown as he opened up all five break point opportunities.  Despite Ruud’s typically powerful shots, Djokovic’s big-match mentality prevailed during his 93-minute win at the Para Alpitour.
